The beauty and grandeur of Yampa Valley and Steamboat Springs welcomes the triathlon world back on Sunday, August 29th, 2010 at 8:00 am. Just 20 minutes outside of Steamboat Springs, join 600 athletes at the edge of Lake Catamount, nestled in the Yampa Valley near the Medicine Bow & Routt National Forests.
With spectacular mountains as a backdrop, triathletes swim 3/4-mile in beautiful Lake Catamount, tucked in between the final passage of Rabbit Ears pass and the gateway to Steamboat's vast Yampa Valley.
The 22.4 mile bike course is an out and back course, where athletes all experience the breathtaking scenery the Yampa Valley is famous for. Ride past turn of the century barns, travel along the Yampa River, and breath the fresh air of the Rockies while racing to the country's oldest ski jumping hill, Howelsen Hill. Besides River Road, which will be only open to local/resident traffic, all other roads are open to traffic.
The 4-mile run takes place on on all paved roads, with no major hills. Sponsored in part by Catamount Ranch & Club, Colorado Group Realty, Hammer Nutrition, KIDN, Moots, SmartWool, SnowAlarm and TYR.
The Steamboat Springs Triathlon will be more than just a "local fun run". You can count on: great competitor technical race shirts, terrific awards, food and beer after the race, well supported aid stations on the course, a race expo all weekend, and of course, awesome fantastic volunteers!
